In March 2013 the number of new passenger cars registered was 9,492

In March 2013 a total of 14,532 new motor vehicles were registered, of which 10,555 were automobiles. First registrations decreased by 54.5 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year. In March the number of new passenger cars registered was 9,492, which was 58.6 per cent down from the year before. The decrease of new registered cars was due to automobile taxes which changed 1.4.2012. The number of passenger cars first registered in March has been on average approximately 12,000 during the 2000s. The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 36.9 per cent. These data are based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency and they have been produced by Statistics Finland. The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

First registrations of passenger cars

In the January to March period of 2013 a total of 41,791 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was a decrease of 38.4 per cent. The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to March period was 27,640, which is 42.2 per cent down from the year before. The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to March period were Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
