First registrations of motor vehicles

Data:	Latest release: In February 2022 the number of new passenger cars registered was 6,303 04 Mar 2022 In February 2022 a total of 11,403 new motor vehicles were registered, of which 7,480 were automobiles. First registrations decreased by 17.3 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year. In February the number of new passenger cars registered was 6,303, which was 22.9 per cent down from the year before. The share of new electric passenger cars was 12.5 per cent and plug-in hybrid electric cars 21.6 per cent. A total of 2,145 new electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered, which was 1.9 per cent up from the year before. These data are based on the Traffic Affairs Register of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) and they have been produced by Statistics Finland. The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.
Description:	Statistics Finland's statistics on motor vehicles are based on the traffic affairs register of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom), which contains data on all road transport vehicles liable for registration on Mainland Finland. First registrations are drawn monthly from the register for Statistics Finland. Ålands Fordonsmyndigheten supplies to Statistics Finland annual statistics on first registrations on the Åland Islands, and these data are added to the long time series on first registrations.
