Turnover in service industries fell by 7.4 per cent in April to June

Total turnover generated by service industries fell by 7.4 per cent in the April to June period of 2009 when compared with the respective three-month period of the year before. During the previous three-month period that ended in May, turnover in service industries diminished by 6.4 from one year back. At the end of the latest examination period turnover was only showing growth in real estate activities and other service activities. Services are here examined exclusive of trade and the data have been adjusted for working days by eliminating effects of calendar variations from them.

Turnover in transport and storage fell by 17.7 per cent year-on-year in the examined period. In April to June turnover fell by 4.1 per cent in accommodation and food service activities, by 4.2 per cent in information and communication activities, by 7.9 per cent in professional, scientific and technical activities and by 3.0 per cent in administrative and support service activities when compared with the respective period of the year before. Among the service industries turnover grew most in real estate activities, where it was 5.1 per higher than in the previous year in the examined period. In arts, entertainment and recreation turnover grew by 2.5 per cent and in other services by 2.6 per cent from the year before in April to June.
