Turnover in service industries grew by 3.8 per cent year-on-year in August to October

Turnover in service industries grew by 3.8 per cent in August to October from the corresponding time period of the year before. One year previously, turnover in service industries grew by 6.9 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade, and the data have been adjusted for working days by eliminating the effects of calendar variations from them.

In August-October, turnover in service industries grew fastest in real estate activities, where turnover increased by 8.6 per cent from the year before. The turnover of professional, scientific and technical activities grew by 5.1 per cent. The slowest growth was seen in other service activities, where turnover remained almost unchanged with 0.4 per cent growth year-on-year. These activities include, for instance, laundry services, hairdressing and beauty care services, as well as other personal service activities.

The indices of turnover will adopt base year 2010=100 from the January 2013 data. Data using the new base year will be published for the first time on 15 April 2013.
