Turnover of construction enterprises grew by good nine per cent in the April to June period
The turnover of construction enterprises grew by 9.4 per cent in the April to June period when compared with the corresponding three-month period of the year before. The development in the turnover improved from the early part of the year, for in the first quarter of the year turnover diminished by nearly eight per cent. In the latest examination period, turnover increased by 15.3 per cent in building construction, contracted by 7.5 per cent in civil engineering and grew by 9.5 per cent in specialised construction compared with the April to June period of the previous year.
Year-on-year change in turnover in the 4–6/2010 and 4–6/2009 time periods, % (TOL 2008)
The sales volume of construction enterprises grew by 20.6 per cent year-on-year in the April to June period. Over the same period, the sales volume of building construction enterprises grew by 28.7 per cent, that of civil engineering contracted by 10.8 per cent and that of specialised construction activities rose by 22.3 per cent.
The volume index of enterprises’ sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the turnover index series. The strong growth in the volume of sales in building construction and specialised construction is partly explained by the fall in tender prices.
