Road traffic accidents claimed 17 lives in September
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 543 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in September. In them, 17 persons were killed and 670 persons injured. The number of persons killed was nine lower and that of persons injured 20 lower than in September 2012.

Of the persons who were killed, 12 travelled by passenger car and one by moped and. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 2 and cyclists 2. Among those who died, 12 were men and five were women.
A total of 3,921 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to September period. In them, 194 persons were killed and 4,906 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 15 lower and that of persons injured 380 lower than in the corresponding period of 2012. Of the persons who were killed, 118 travelled by passenger car, five by van, three by lorry, 24 by motorcycle and three by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 16 and cyclists 18. In addition, seven other road users were killed.
