Road traffic accidents claimed 14 lives in March
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 227 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in March. In them, 14 persons were killed and 309 persons injured. The number of persons killed was one higher and that of persons injured 11 lower than in March 2018. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Of the persons who were killed, 10 travelled by passenger car and two by van. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. Among those who died, nine were men and five were women.
A total of 747 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to March period. In them, 40 persons were killed and 1,007 persons injured. The number of persons killed was the same and that of persons injured six lower than in the corresponding period of 2018. Of the persons who were killed, 31 travelled by passenger car, three by van and two by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered three and cyclists one.
