Road traffic accidents claimed 19 lives in June
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 364 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 19 persons were killed and 458 persons injured. The number of persons killed was five lower and that of persons injured 46 lower than in June 2019. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Of the persons who were killed, 10 travelled by passenger car, two by van and three by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one and cyclists three. Among those who died, 16 were men and three were women.
A total of 1,600 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to June period. In them, 101 persons were killed and 1,969 persons injured. The number of persons killed was two higher and that of persons injured 289 lower than in the corresponding period of 2019. Of the persons who were killed, 60 travelled by passenger car, six by van, six by motorcycle and two by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 11 and cyclists 11. In addition, five other road users were killed.
