Road traffic accidents claimed 14 lives in September
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 333 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in September. In them, 14 persons were killed and 403 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 10 lower and that of persons injured 70 lower than in September 2019. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Of the persons who were killed, nine travelled by passenger car, one by van and one by moped. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 13 were men and one woman.
A total of 2,710 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to September period. In them, 166 persons were killed and 3,341 persons injured. The number of persons killed was two lower and that of persons injured 467 lower than in the corresponding period of 2019. Of the persons who were killed, 98 travelled by passenger car, eight by van, two by moped, 15 by motorcycle and two by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 18. In addition, eight other road users were killed.
