Road traffic accidents claimed 24 lives in July
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 398 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July. In them, 24 persons were killed and 502 persons injured. The number of persons killed was one lower and that of persons injured 112 higher than in July 2020. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Of the persons who were killed, 10 travelled by passenger car, two by van and 10 by motorcycle. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. Among those who died, 20 were men and four were women.
A total of 1,692 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to July period. In them, 112 persons were killed and 2,073 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 15 lower and that of persons injured 287 lower than in the corresponding period of 2020. Of the persons who were killed, 62 travelled by passenger car, eight by van, two by moped, 17 by motorcycle and two by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 12 and cyclists six. In addition, three other road users were killed.
