Industrial output fell by 1.1 per cent in June from May

According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 1.1 per cent lower in June 2005 than in May. Seasonally adjusted volume of industrial output fell by 9.8 per cent year-on-year from June 2004. Output for the January to June period declined by 3 per cent from one year ago.

Capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing was 72 per cent in June, which is 13.3 percentage points lower than in June 2004. In the pulp and paper industry, capacity utilisation rate was 5 per cent and in the metal industry 83 per cent. Capacity utilisation rate was 77 per cent in the chemical industry and 81 per cent in other manufacturing.

Revised data for June will be published on 30 August 2005 at 9 am in connection with the industrial output data for July. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures do not become revised. The seasonally adjusted figures will also be adjusted for working days.
