Industrial output decreased by 0.6 per cent year-on-year in April

According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 0.6 per cent lower in April 2007 than twelve months earlier. In January to April, industrial output was level with the corresponding period in the year before.

Output fell in several main industries in April. The largest decrease of 6 per cent was recorded in the manufacture of electrical and electronic products. In the chemical industry, output decreased by a good 3 per cent. In April, growth industries included other metal industry, which grew by a good 4 per cent, and other manufacturing, where output was a good two per cent higher than one year previously.

Industrial output decreased by 0.3 per cent in April from March

According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 0.3 per cent lower in April 2007 than in March.

The volume index of industrial output describes the development in the volume of the industrial output of establishments located in Finland. Preliminary data are based on a sample comprised of roughly 1,000 of the largest establishments within their respective industries.

Revised data for April 2007 will be published at 9 am on 29 June 2007 in connection with the industrial output data for May 2007. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures do not become revised. The seasonally adjusted figures will also be adjusted for working days.
