Structural business and financial statement statistics included in the renewal of business statistics
Statistics Finland has renewed its production of business statistics. Due to the changes, data on the Structural business and financial statement statistics are not comparable with previous statistical years starting from the statistical reference year 2013. As concerns financial statements, data have been calculated in a uniform manner from the statistical reference year 2012 onwards.
The review concerns more than ten sets of statistics. In the review, the production of business statistics has been harmonised. The uniform business production system was taken into use in the Structural business and financial statement statistics for preliminary data in September 2014, and for final data in December 2014.
The renewal improves the uniformity of business statistics. The main changes relate to the Standard Industrial Classification, harmonisation of business data (e.g. turnover and personnel data) and enterprise reorganisations, as well as deduction rules, with which the enterprise or establishment group to be included in the statistics is formed. Starting from the statistical reference year 2013, the statistics include for primary production industries (industry A: agriculture, forestry and fishing) those liable for value added tax in primary production when sales exceed the limit for statistics compilation.
