In 2014, there were 7.3 million cinema visits in Finland, and the most popular TV film had 765,000 viewers. The price of the most expensive Finnish painting sold at an auction was EUR 120,000. These are just some of the data that can be found in Statistics Finland's recently published free cultural statistics table service.
The Cultural Statistics table service contains 12 large wholes:
- Cultural diversity
- Cultural heritage, architecture and culture tourism
- Books, libraries and cultural magazines
- Theatre, dance and opera
- Music
- Films
- Visual art
- Crafts and design
- Cultural events and cultural centres
- Private and public support of culture
- Education and labour force in the field of culture
- Culture in the national economy
The electronic table service replaces the printed Cultural Statistics publication starting from 2015. The content of the table service is updated four times a year, and in that connection, analysis articles are published on the topics of the tables. The tables are available in Finnish and English, the articles in Finnish.
