Statistics Finland will close down its local offices during 2014

Statistics Finland's local offices in Seinäjoki, Tampere, Turku and Oulu will close down by the end of 2014.

The offices in Seinäjoki, Tampere and Turku will be closed on 30 June 2014 and the office in Oulu on 31 December 2014. A total of 12 persons work in the local offices, most of them in communication and information tasks, six persons in Oulu and two in each of the other local offices.

The change is based on operational and financial reasons. The objective is not to reduce the number of personnel. The employees working at the local offices will continue in their current tasks but their posts will be located in Helsinki. In order to adjust to the change, a transition period is in place until 31 December 2015, during which time Statistics Finland offers more flexible remote work opportunities, job arrangements and working hours to the persons working at the local offices.

The decision concerning the future of the local offices does not affect Statistics Finland's local interview activities that employ approximately 200 persons across Finland and for which more interviewers are currently being recruited.
