Delays in statistics on housing and construction in spring 2025

Data on new production of building projects and dwellings will be next released at the end of May, when data on new production for three months will be published all at once in the statistics on building stock and new production.

The releases of the statistics containing data on new production in January and February scheduled for March and April have been cancelled. The May release will contain data on new production of building projects and dwellings and on the volume index of newbuilding up until March 2025.

The publication of annual data on the building stock will be postponed by around one month to the beginning of May, when Buildings and free-time residences 2024 will be published.

The publication of annual data describing dwellings, household-dwelling units and housing conditions will be postponed to the end of May, when Dwellings and housing conditions 2024 will be published.

The data on household-dwelling units and housing conditions for the first quarter of 2025 based on preliminary population data will be published in June.

The delays are caused by the renewal of Statistics Finland's statistical production system concerning buildings, building projects, dwellings and household-dwelling units as part of a larger renewal project of statistical production systems and the changed supplier of the main data source for the statistics. The new release times are:

• Buildings and free-time residences 2024: 8 May 2025
• Building stock and new production 2025, January, February, March: 20 May 2025
• Dwellings and housing conditions 2024: 28 May 2025
• Household-dwelling units and housing conditions 2025, first quarter: 12 June 2025
