According to Statistics Finland, in 2022, altogether 30 per cent of persons aged 16 to 89 had bought travel tickets or taxi rides online during the past three months. 20 per cent of the population had bought short-term hotel or other accommodation. In all, 24 per cent of persons aged 16 to 89 had ordered food portions online directly from restaurants or through a courier service and 14 per cent had ordered food from stores during the past three months.

  • In 2022, the share of those having bought travel tickets online during the past 3 months grew from the previous year by 15 percentage points to 30 per cent. The share of those having bought short-term accommodation grew by 12 percentage points to 20 per cent.
  • During the past 3 months, 14 per cent of persons aged 16 to 89 had ordered food from stores online. 24 per cent had ordered food portions from restaurants.
  • In 2022, altogether 58 per cent of persons aged 16 to 89 had bought goods or services online during the past three months. 
  • 11 per cent of those aged 16 to 89 had at some point used home lighting, heating and other similar systems that can be connected to the Internet.
  • 93 per cent of the population aged 16 to 89 use the Internet.
