According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 20.3 per cent in October 2022 from October 2021. Turnover in industry has been growing continuously since January 2021.

Turnover grew in all main industries in October

Adjusted for working days, turnover grew in October in all main industries. The growth was strongest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, up by 48.3 per cent from one year back. In the chemical industry, turnover grew by 35.2 per cent from one year ago. The growth in the turnover of the industries was partly due to risen prices. In the forest industry, turnover grew by 16.7 per cent and in the metal industry by 7.7 per cent. Turnover grew most moderately in the electrical and electronics industry, by 4.0 per cent from one year ago.

Export turnover and domestic turnover grew in October in all main industries

Export turnover in industry adjusted for working days grew in October in all main industries. Export turnover grew most in the chemical industry, by 34.5 per cent, and in the textile, clothing and leather industry, by 26.7 per cent from one year ago. In the forest industry, export turnover grew by 20.4 per cent and in the metal industry by 9.9 per cent. Export turnover in the electrical and electronics industry grew most moderately and was 2.5 per cent higher than one year previously.

Domestic turnover in industry adjusted for working days grew in October in all main industries. Domestic turnover grew strongest in the chemical industry, by 36.5 per cent, and in mining and quarrying, by 21.7 per cent from one year ago. Domestic turnover in the metal industry increased by 10.0 per cent year-on-year. Domestic turnover grew most moderately in the forest industry, up by 9.4 per cent from the previous year.

Turnover grew in October from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry increased by 0.5 per cent in October 2022 compared to September. In September, turnover decreased by 0.6 per cent, while in August turnover grew by 1.1 per cent from the month before.
