Road traffic accidents claimed 15 lives in August 2023
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 318 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in August 2023. In them, 15 persons were killed and 385 persons injured. The number of persons killed was one lower and that of persons injured 63 lower than in August 2022. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

- Killed pedestrians numbered two. No cyclist was killed in August.

Road traffic accidents in January to August
A total of 1,873 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to August period of 2023. In them, 110 persons were killed and 2,322 persons injured. The number of persons killed was nine lower and that of persons injured 248 lower than in the corresponding period of 2022. Of the persons who were killed, 57 travelled by passenger car, 12 by van, one by moped and 13 by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed numbered 13 and cyclists five. In addition, nine other road users were killed.
