Cubic volume of granted building permits decreased by 42 per cent year-on-year in June to August 2023
According to Statistics Finland, building permits for newbuilding were granted in June to August 2023 for a total of 6.0 million cubic metres, which was 42 per cent less than one year ago. The cubic volume of completed building projects decreased by 16 per cent from one year ago.

Cubic volume covered by granted building permits grew in two regions
In June to August 2023, the cubic volume of building permits granted for newbuilding was highest in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa and North Ostrobothnia. Of the regions, more permits in cubic volumes were granted for South Savo and South Karelia than one year earlier.
Measured by cubic volume, most building projects were completed in Uusimaa, North Ostrobothnia and Pirkanmaa in June to August 2023. The highest growth was seen in construction projects completed in Lapland, Päijät-Häme and Pirkanmaa.
On the level of the whole country, a total of 10,928 new dwellings were completed in building projects. Among the regions, most dwellings were completed in Uusimaa, 4,928. The growth in the number of dwellings in completed building projects was highest in the regions of South Karelia, Päijät-Häme and South Savo compared to one year ago.
