Sixty-four per cent of new passers of the matriculation examination in 2022 remained outside education

According to Statistics Finland, there were 25,900 new passers of the matriculation examination in the spring term 2022, of whom three fifths were women. Eighty per cent of new passers of the matriculation examination applied immediately for further studies, but only 36 per cent continued studies immediately. Twenty-two per cent of new passers of the matriculation examination continued in university education, 12 per cent in university of applied sciences education and 1.7 per cent in vocational education.
