Overnight stays in Lapland growing strongly in January 2023

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the number of nights spent by tourists was 48 per cent higher in January 2023 than one year earlier. In total, one million overnight stays were recorded for resident tourists, which is 44 per cent more than in January 2022. For non-resident tourists, 0.53 million overnight stays were recorded, which is 55 per cent more than one year earlier. However, the total number of overnight stays was around nine per cent lower than in January 2020 before the pandemic.
