Value of energy imports fell by 37 per cent in January to June 2023
release | Energy supply and consumption 2023, 2nd quarterAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, diverse energy products were imported to Finland to the value of EUR 5.8 billion in January to June 2023, which was 37 per cent less than one year earlier. The value of exports of energy products amounted to EUR 3.1 billion, which was 15 per cent less than one year previously.

- The main energy import products based on value were crude oil (including natural gas condensate), medium distillates and other oil products.
- The most important energy export products based on value were medium distillates and motor gasoline.
- In the first half of 2023, the import volume of natural gas fell by 61 per cent and that of liquefied natural gas grew nearly five-fold compared to the previous year. The export volume of natural gas grew more than four-fold and that of liquefied natural gas fell by 86 per cent.
- Imports of electricity in January to June 2023 amounted to 4.6 TWh, which was 58 per cent less than in the year before. Electricity exports totalled 3.8 TWh, which was six per cent more than in the year before.
