Read more about the correctionAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, total energy consumption in January to June amounted to 956 petajoule (PJ), which was one per cent less than in the corresponding period last year. The production of nuclear power increased when the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant started regular production of electricity in April. The consumption of natural gas grew significantly from the previous year as imports of LNG increased.

- The consumption of renewable energy went down by three per cent in January to September. The consumption of wood fuels fell by four per cent.
- The combined consumption of fossil fuels and peat decreased by ten per cent. The consumption of peat declined most, by 37 per cent.
- Total electricity consumption was 56.7 terawatt hours (TWh) or six per cent lower than one year earlier. The production of nuclear power went up by 32 per cent as Olkiluoto 3 started regular production of electricity in April.
- Carbon dioxide emissions from the energy use of fuels decreased by eight per cent from the previous year.
