Number of enterprise closures was 12 per cent higher in July to September 2023 than one year before

According to Statistics Finland, there were 5,453 enterprise closures in July to September 2023. During the quarter, the number of enterprise closures increased by 12.1 per cent from the previous year. At the same time, enterprise openings numbered 9,584. In July to September 2023, the number of enterprise openings was one per cent lower than one year previously.

Key selections

  • In the third quarter of 2023, the number of enterprise closures in construction was 31.1 per cent higher than one year earlier and the number of enterprise openings was 15 per cent lower than one year ago.
  • In the third quarter of 2023, there were 2.7 per cent more enterprise closures in trade and 8.4 per cent more enterprise openings than twelve months earlier.
