According to Statistics Finland, owners of dwellings renovated their dwellings and residential buildings to the tune of EUR 5.2 billion in 2023. The amount of money spent on renovations went up by 2.7 per cent from the level of 2022. EUR 4.3 billion were spent on renovating one-dwelling and two-dwelling houses. EUR 550 billion were used on renovations to dwellings in blocks of flats, and EUR 350 million to dwellings in terraced houses.

  • In 2023, the value of renovations of one-dwelling and two-dwelling houses grew by 7.4 per cent from the year before.
  • The amount of money spent on renovations increased by 14.4 per cent in block of flats companies and by 15.5 per cent in dwellings in blocks of flats.
  • The value of renovations went up by 4.7 per cent in terraced house companies and fell by 14.8 per cent in terraced houses.
  • Owner-occupiers and housing companies renovated houses with a total of EUR 7.8 billion. The amount of money was 5.6 percentage points higher than in 2022.
