Producer prices of agricultural products fell by 3.5 per cent in the third quarter of 2024
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland, the producer prices of agricultural products fell by 3.5 per cent in the third quarter of 2024 compared to one year ago. Prices of animal output went down by 5.7 per cent. Prices of plant products rose slightly. The index went down most due to reductions in the producer prices of milk, meat and cereals. The fall in the index was contained especially by brisk increases in the prices of berries and fur skins.

- The producer price of cereals decreased by 11.8 per cent in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year.
- The producer price of meat fell by 4.4 per cent in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the year before.
- The producer price of milk went down by 9.9 per cent in the third quarter of 2024 compared to one year ago.
- The producer price of other animal products, mainly fur skins, rose by 16.6 per cent in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the year before.
- The fall in the index of producer prices of agricultural products was also curbed by a 60 per cent rise in the producer price of strawberry significant for the main category of fruit in the third quarter of 2024 compared to one year ago.
