Number of marriages entered into continued declining in 2023

According to Statistics Finland, 20,693 marriages were entered into in 2023. The number of marriages entered into decreased by 1,249 from the previous year. A total of 20,320 marriages between opposite-sex spouses were entered into, which is 1,199 fewer than in the year before. Same-sex couples entered into 373 marriages, 50 fewer than in the previous year.
