According to Statistics Finland, a total of 6,851 new passenger cars were registered in May 2025, which was 12 per cent fewer than one year earlier. In all, 12,252 new vehicles were registered in May. First registrations decreased by 14 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

  • In January to May period of 2025, a total of 29,809 new passenger cars were registered, which was 8 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
  • Of first-time registered passenger cars in May 2025, 34 per cent were fully electric. The number of their registrations was 2,296, or 3 per cent higher than one year earlier.
  • 2,851 new petrol-fueled passenger cars were registered in May, which was 24 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
