According to Statistics Finland, a total of 5,262 new passenger cars were registered in August 2025, which was 20 per cent fewer than one year earlier. In all, 9,247 new vehicles were registered in August. First registrations decreased by 16 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Key selections

  • In January to August period of 2025, a total of 47,949 new passenger cars were registered, which was six per cent fewer than one year earlier.
  • Of first-time registered passenger cars in August 2025, altogether 37 per cent were fully electric. The number of their registrations was 1,941, or three per cent higher than one year earlier.
  • In all, 1,900 new petrol-fuelled passenger cars were registered in August, which was 36 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
