According to Statistics Finland, comprehensive schools had 553,800 pupils in 2024. Of them, 8,000 attended pre-primary education connected to schools, 352,000 pupils in total attended grades 1 to 6 and 194,100 pupils attended grades 7 to 9. Forty-nine per cent of the pupils were girls and 51 per cent were boys.
