Growth in environmental protection expenditure halted in 2023

According to Statistics Finland, environmental protection expenditure fell slightly in 2023 and totalled EUR 5.2 billion. Environmental protection expenditure went down by 0.4 per cent from the previous year. The use of environmental protection services grew slightly, but investments in environmental protection fell. The biggest change concerned the category of waste management expenditure where expenditure went down by 6.6 per cent.
