Turnover in service industries grew by 3.2 per cent in November 2024

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in service industries grew by 3.2 per cent in November 2024 from November 2023. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, grew by 1.3 per cent over the same period. In October 2024, turnover grew of 2.5 per cent and volume correspondingly rose by 0.8 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.

Turnover growing in service industries

Among the service industries, growth in November 2024 was strongest in professional, scientific and technical activities, where turnover rose by 5.1 per cent and volume by 1.5 per cent from November 2023. In turn, working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities grew by 4.2 per cent and volume by 2.0 per cent from November 2023. In information and communication activities, working day adjusted turnover was 3.4 per cent higher than in November 2023. At the same time, the volume of the industry rose by 2.0 per cent.

In November 2024, working day adjusted turnover in accommodation and food service activities grew by 3.1 per cent and volume by 1.0 per cent from November 2023. Working day adjusted turnover in transportation and storage rose by 2.9 per cent in November 2024 from November 2023. Over the same period, the volume of the industry went up by 2.5 per cent. In administrative and support service activities, working day adjusted turnover grew by 1.6 per cent from November 2023, while the volume of the industry went down by 0.7 per cent.

Turnover growth in the industry of arts, entertainment and recreation was 1.3 per cent higher than in November 2023. In November 2024, development was weakest in other service activities, where working day adjusted turnover fell by 0.7 per cent from November 2023.

Turnover and volume growing from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries rose by 0.4 per cent in November 2024 compared to October. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, went up by 0.2 per cent over the same period. In October 2024, turnover rose by 1.5 per cent and volume by 1.1 per cent from September.
