Turnover in service industries grew by 3.6 per cent in December 2024

Turnover growing in service industries

In December 2024, growth in service industries was strongest in accommodation and food service activities, where turnover grew by 9.0 per cent from December 2023. Similarly, the 6.8 per cent rise in the volume of the industry was also fastest among service industries. Turnover growth in the industry of arts, entertainment and recreation was 4.6 per cent higher than in December 2023. The working day adjusted turnover of information and communication activities went up by 3.7 per cent and volume by 2.7 per cent from December 2023.

In other main service industries, development was more subdued than average in service industries. In administrative and support service activities, working day adjusted turnover grew by 3.3 per cent in December 2024 from December 2023, while the volume of the industry went down by 0.4 per cent. The working day adjusted turnover of other service activities went up by 2.9 per cent from December 2023. In December 2024, working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities grew by 2.6 per cent and volume by 2.9 per cent.

In December 2024, working day adjusted turnover in transportation and storage grew by 1.7 per cent and volume by 1.2 per cent from December 2023. Working day adjusted turnover in professional, scientific and technical activities rose by 1.6 per cent and volume fell by 0.4 per cent from December 2023.

Turnover grew from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries rose by 0.9 per cent in December 2024 compared to November. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, remained on level with the previous month in the same period. In November 2024, turnover rose by 0.2 per cent and volume fell by 0.1 per cent from October.
