Turnover in service industries grew by 4.0 per cent in February 2025

Turnover growing in service industries

In February 2025, growth in service industries was strongest in professional, scientific and technical activities. Working day adjusted turnover in the industry grew by 5.7 per cent from February 2024, while the volume of the industry went up slightly, being only 0.1 per cent higher than in the comparison period one year ago. In the industry of arts, entertainment and recreation, turnover grew by 5.3 per cent from February 2024.

Working day adjusted turnover in accommodation and food service activities and in information and communication increased by 4.1 per cent in February 2025. At the same time, the volume in information and communication was 2.3 per cent higher than one year ago, while the volume in accommodation and food service activities contracted by 0.5 per cent.

In other main service industries, development was more subdued than average in service industries. In February 2025, working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities grew by 3.4 per cent and volume by 0.8 per cent. The working day adjusted turnover of other service activities went up by 2.6 per cent from February 2024. Correspondingly, working day adjusted turnover in transportation and storage grew by 2.4 per cent and volume by 1.8 per cent in February 2025 from February 2024. Among the main service industries, development was weakest in February 2025 in administrative and support service activities, where working day adjusted turnover grew by 1.2 per cent while the volume of the industry decreased by 1.3 per cent over the same period.

Turnover and volume falling from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries declined in February 2025 by 0.3 per cent compared to January. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, also decreased by 0.3 per cent over the same period. In January 2025, turnover went up by 1.2 per cent and volume by 1.0 per cent from December 2024.
