Turnover in service industries grew by 1.3 per cent in May 2025

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in service industries grew by 1.3 per cent in May 2025 from May 2024. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, grew by 0.1 per cent over the same period. In April 2025, turnover grew of 1.9 per cent and volume correspondingly rose by 0.5 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.

Turnover growing in service industries

In May 2025, growth in service industries was strongest in information and communication, where working day adjusted turnover went up by 3.5 per cent from May 2024. At the same time, the 3.4 per cent rise in the volume of the industry was fastest among service industries. In professional, scientific and technical activities, working day adjusted turnover grew by 3.2 per cent and volume by 0.2 per cent from May 2024. Working day adjusted turnover in real estate activities, in turn, grew by 2.3 per cent and volume by 0.7 per cent from May 2024. In the industry of arts, entertainment and recreation, turnover rose by 1.4 per cent from May 2024.

In other main service industries, development was more subdued than average in service industries. Working day adjusted turnover in administrative and support service activities grew by 0.7 per cent in May 2025, while the volume of the industry contracted by 1.9 per cent over the same period. In May 2025, the development of working day adjusted turnover in other service activities slowed down by 0.1 per cent from May 2024. Working day adjusted turnover in accommodation and food service activities declined by 0.9 per cent in May 2025. At the same time, the volume of the industry contracted by 2.4 per cent. Working day adjusted turnover in transportation and storage decreased by 1.8 per cent and volume by 1.7 per cent in May 2025 from the year before.

Turnover and volume on level with the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in service industries remained on level with April in May 2025. Service output or volume, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, decreased by 0.1 per cent over the same period. In April 2025, turnover declined by 0.9 per cent and volume by 0.7 per cent from March.
