Prices of electricity and liquid fuels fell in the last quarter of 2024 compared to one year ago

According to Statistics Finland, prices of electricity, wood pellets and liquid fuels fell in the last quarter of 2024 compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. In turn, user prices of domestic fuels in energy production rose.

  • In November 2024, the consumer price of petrol fell by 10 per cent, that of diesel by 15 per cent and that of light fuel oil by 11 per cent from one year earlier.
  • The consumer price of wood pellets fell by nine per cent in November 2024 compared to one year earlier.
  • In December 2024, the total price of electricity for household customers went down by 12 to 17 per cent compared to one year earlier. Correspondingly, the total price for enterprise and corporate customers fell by 11 to 42 per cent. 
  • In the last quarter of 2024, the taxable price of milled peat rose by one per cent and the price of forest chippings by 13 per cent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
