Half of Finnish household-dwelling units were debt-free in 2024

According to Statistics Finland, about half (49%) of Finnish household-dwelling units were debt-free in 2024. The average debt per indebted household-dwelling unit was EUR 94,400 in 2024. The average debts of indebted household-dwelling units decreased by about EUR 1,000 from the previous year. The majority (68%) of the total amount owed was housing debt. Households with housing loans made up 28% of all household-dwelling units in Finland.
