Value of energy imports decreased and that of exports increased in the first quarter of 2025
releaseAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the import value of energy products was EUR 2.6 billion in the first quarter of 2025, falling by 18 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the year before. The export value of energy products was EUR 1.2 billion, or four per cent more.

- In the first quarter of 2025, the main import countries for energy products based on value were Norway, Sweden and the USA. The main export countries were Sweden, Latvia and the Netherlands.
- The main energy export products based on value were medium distillates, motor gasoline and other petroleum products.
- The main energy import products based on value were crude oil, medium distillates and other petroleum products.
- In the first quarter of 2025, the import volume of liquefied natural gas fell by 83 per cent and the export volume by 29 per cent compared to the corresponding period one year earlier.
- Imports of electricity amounted to 2.7 TWh in the first quarter of 2025, decreasing by 11 per cent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Exports of electricity amounted to 0.9 TWh, or 12 per cent less.
