Fewer job vacancies in the last quarter of 2024 than one year earlier
According to Statistics Finland, there were 33,000 job vacancies in the last quarter of 2024, while the figure was 42,000 one year earlier. The data describe the situation on the first day of December.

Characteristics of job vacancies
In the last quarter of 2024, altogether 23,700 or 72 per cent of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. The number of job vacancies decreased compared to the previous year, for example, in establishments in the private sector (-5,400), in municipalities, joint municipal authorities and wellbeing services counties (-3,500) and in municipal enterprises or municipally-owned companies (-2,000). The number of job vacancies also decreased, for instance, in establishments with 10 to 49 employees (-4,800).

In the last quarter, 30 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, that is, the same share as one year earlier. The share of part-time jobs in all job vacancies was 21 per cent, which is slightly lower than in the previous year (25%). Employers estimated that 40 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is 18 percentage points lower than one year before (58%).
