According to Statistics Finland, there were 57,500 open job vacancies in the first quarter of 2025, which is four per cent less than one year earlier (60,000). The data describe the situation on the first day of March.

Read more about the changeIn the first quarter of 2025, altogether 37,200 or 65 per cent of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. The number of open job vacancies decreased compared to one year ago, for example, in establishments of organisations, associations and foundations (-1,800).
The number of open job vacancies decreased particularly in the major region of Western Finland (-4,900) but increased in Northern and Eastern Finland (+2,500). When examined by the industry of the establishment, job vacancies decreased in the industry group of public administration, education, human health and social work activities (-2,500).

In the first quarter, 56 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, that is, seven percentage points more than one year earlier. The share of part-time jobs in all job vacancies was 18 per cent, which is lower than in the previous year (21%). Employers estimated that 30 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is eight percentage points lower than one year before (38%).
