Fewer open job vacancies in the third quarter of 2025 than one year earlier
According to Statistics Finland, there were 27,100 open job vacancies in the third quarter of 2025, which is 22 per cent fewer than one year earlier (34,600). Employers estimated that 31 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is 19 percentage points lower than one year before (50%). The data describe the situation on the first day of September.

Characteristics of job vacancies
In the third quarter of 2025, altogether 77 per cent or 20,900 of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. The number of open job vacancies decreased (–6,500) from one year ago especially in establishments of private enterprises.
The number of open job vacancies decreased in all major regions, and the change was biggest in Helsinki-Uusimaa (–3,900). Examined by the industry of the establishment, the biggest change was the decrease in open job vacancies (–2,300) in the industry group of trade, transportation and storage, and accommodation and restaurant activities (G to I). The number of open job vacancies decreased in all size categories of establishments, most in establishments with 1 to 4 employees (–3,000).

In the third quarter, 31 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, which is four percentage points more than one year earlier. The share of part-time jobs in all job vacancies was 21 per cent, which is more than in the previous year (16%). Employers estimated that 31 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is 19 percentage points lower than one year before (50%).
