According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the price index of public expenditure rose in central government by 2.0 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 compared with one year earlier. The price index of local government finances rose by 1.4 per cent and the price index of basic municipal services by 3.6 per cent over the same period.

Key selections

  • The rise in the price index of central government expenditure was mainly caused by increased in wages and other personnel expenses, as well as transfer expenses to welfare regions, municipalities and joint municipal authorities in the first quarter of 2025.
