Altogether 81 per cent of children participated in early childhood education and care in 2025

According to Statistics Finland, 81 per cent of children aged 1 to 6 participated in early childhood education and care in 2025, in total 231,700 children. Examined by age group, children aged 5 and 4 participated most, as their participation share was over 90 per cent. Forty per cent of children aged under three and 91 per cent of children aged 3 to 5 took part in early childhood education and care.
