Read more about the changeAccording to Statistics Finland, 127,000 pupils participated in basic arts education, of whom 69 per cent studied the extended syllabus and 31 per cent the general syllabus in 2024. There were most pupils, 52,000, in the 7 to 12 age group.

- A total of 102,000 pupils were aged under 16, which was 81 per cent of pupils in basic arts education in 2024.
- Measured by the number of pupils, the most popular study contents were music, 54 per cent, dance, 22 per cent, and visual arts, 14 per cent.
- Hours of instruction totalled 2,200,000 hours, of which 80 per cent were in the art form of music.
- Forty-three per cent of the pupils were in the region of Uusimaa.
- Sixty-three per cent of the pupils were girls and women, 72 per cent of whom were studying the general syllabus and 59 per cent the extensive syllabus.
