Industrial output decreased month-on-month in December 2025 but increased year-on-year

Seasonally adjusted industrial output (TOL BCD) decreased by 0.8 per cent in December from the month before. According to Statistics Finland, industrial output adjusted for working days went up by 2.0 per cent compared to December 2024.

Adjusted for working days, output in manufacturing (C) grew by 3.1 per cent in December 2025 from one year earlier. Seasonally adjusted output in manufacturing (C) remained on level with the previous month.
Output increased in December from the previous month in the chemical industry, by 15.3 per cent, and in mining and quarrying, by 7.6 per cent. In all other main industries examined in the figure, output was lower than in November. Output fell most in the electrical and electronics industry, by 13.2 per cent from the month before. Output decreased by 5.6 per cent in the food industry and by 2.7 per cent in the metal industry. Output also fell somewhat in the forest industry, by 1.0 per cent, and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 0.5 per cent compared to November.
