Industrial output decreased month-on-month in August 2026 but increased year-on-year
releaseSeasonally adjusted industrial output (TOL BCD) decreased by 1.3 per cent in August from the month before. According to Statistics Finland, industrial output adjusted for working days grew by 0.8 per cent compared to August 2025.

Industrial output decreased in several main industries in August from the previous month
Adjusted for working days, output in manufacturing (C) grew by 0.3 per cent in August 2026 compared to one year earlier. Seasonally adjusted output in manufacturing (C) decreased by 1.3 per cent from the month before.
Among the main industries examined in the chart, industrial output grew most in the food industry in August, by 2.8 per cent from the month before. Output was 1.9 per cent higher in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and 0.6 per cent higher in the forest industry than in July.
Output decreased in other main industries from the month before. The fall was strongest in the chemical industry, where output was 11.8 per cent lower than in July. Output also fell from the previous month in the electrical and electronics industry (-4.6%), in mining and quarrying (-3.2%) and in the metal industry (-2.0%).
