According to Statistics Finland, there were 48,600 job vacancies in the first quarter of 2026, which is 15 per cent fewer than one year earlier (57,500). The data describe the situation on the first day of March.

Read more about the changeIn the first quarter of 2026, altogether 30,400 or 62 per cent of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. The number of job vacancies decreased (-6,800) from one year ago especially in establishments of private enterprises.
The biggest regional change was the decrease in the number of job vacancies in the major region of Southern Finland (-4,600). Examined by the industry of the establishment, the biggest change was the decrease in job vacancies (-2,700) in the industry group of public administration; education; health and social services (P to R). The number of job vacancies decreased in all size categories of establishments.

In the first quarter, 51 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, that is, the share was lower than one year earlier (56%). The share of part-time jobs in all job vacancies was 20 per cent, which is more than in the previous year (18%). Employers estimated that 26 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is four percentage points lower than one year before (30%).
