Number of job vacancies in the second quarter of 2026 almost unchanged from one year earlier

According to Statistics Finland, there were 29,600 open job vacancies in the second quarter of 2026, which is two per cent more than one year earlier (28,900). The data describe the situation on the first day of June.

Characteristics of job vacancies

In the second quarter of 2026, altogether 19,500 or 66 per cent of the job vacancies were in establishments owned by private enterprises. The number of open job vacancies increased from one year ago especially in establishments of private enterprises (+600).

The biggest regional change was the increase in the number of job vacancies in the major region of Helsinki-Uusimaa (+1,600). Examined by the industry of the establishment, the biggest change was the increase in job vacancies (+1,400) in construction (F). The change in the number of job vacancies (+1,500) was largest in establishments with 10 to 49 employees.

In the second quarter, 34 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-term, which is five percentage points lower than one year earlier. The share of part-time jobs in all job vacancies was 19 per cent, which is more than in the previous year (15%). Employers estimated that 33 per cent of the job vacancies were hard-to-fill, which is three percentage points lower than one year before.
