Number of nights spent at accommodation establishments decreased by 3 per cent in May 2026 from the previous year

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 1.55 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in May 2026. The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 1.14 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.41 million. The total number of overnight stays decreased by three per cent from the year before.

The number of overnight stays by non-resident tourists went down by three per cent from the previous year. The highest number of foreign nights were from Sweden, Germany and the United States.
The highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Uusimaa, where the total number of overnight stays was 0.64 million. In Uusimaa, the number of overnight stays by resident tourists increased by four per cent and that of overnight stays by non-resident tourists went down by 3 per cent from the previous year.
The second highest number of overnight stays, 0.13 million, was recorded in Pirkanmaa, where the number of overnight stays went down by six per cent from the previous year.
The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 52 per cent and the average price of a hotel room was EUR 116. The average price of a hotel room was highest in Uusimaa, EUR 123.
